After a short break from the string quartet genre, Mozart returned to this genre with a set of six quartets dedicated to Franz Joseph Haydn. The first of these quartets is the String Quartet No. 14 in G Major (K. 387), nicknamed the "Spring Quartet". Unlike many of Mozart's works, this work features chromatic runs in the opening movement.
